La spiaggia, come spazio liminale tra acqua e terra, è un’area inquieta dove le onde per tutto il lungo periodo di formazione del nostro pianeta si sono frante incessantemente, e dove ancora si consuma il fragile equilibrio della vita che si trova in riva al mare. Si tratta, da sempre, d’un luogo di salvezza per i marinai minacciati dalla potenza dei marosi, e il primo luogo in cui s’avverte la trasformazione ancora attiva di coste, sabbie e scogliere.

The beach is a liminal space, a restless zone where land and water meet, where waves have come to shore throughout much of the planet’s formation. Here the fragile balance of life along the seashore is still alive. It is where creatures first came onto land and where, amid the ongoing transformation of coasts, the fragile equilibrium of living beings is always temporary and uncertain. It is a zone long viewed as a place of safety by sailors threatened by the power of the ocean.
