Pescatori / Fishermen

Every fisherman dreams of being a great fisherman, a master of the cast, of the line that sinks beneath the surface of the visible. And the art of the fisherman, often an oblique art, is also contained in poetry. A true fisherman, beyond the large and small prey he catches, always manages to bring something out of his subject: a particular light, a reflection on the water, a dreamy horizon, the darkness of the seabed and the waves. It is the contemplation of these elements that makes those details of the scene leap beyond themselves. There is a metaphorical joy to the work, yet ultimately what is celebrated is the stability and truth of the world.
